Polkadoodles Ula - Be Yourself

So I didn't do much of a tutorial on this 8 1/2" x 11" canvas because I don't normally do mixed media, nor really know how in order to share a "how-to" on it.  I just kind of winged it with some awesome products from the Polkadoodles store and stuff I had in my stash.  I was pleasantly surprised when it was finished but it took me daaaaaays and lots of Pinterest reference and watching video's from my fellow teamies!!  HANDY!!

To start with I painted the whole canvas pink with some acrylic paint.  After it was dry I didn't like how pink it was so I used Dylusions white linen ink spray to tone it down.  It needed a 2nd layer so after that was dry, I then sprayed some Dylusions bubble gum pink over top.  Ooooo that was pretty!!  I applied some light paste overtop the Pretty Butterfly stencil (top left) then let it that dry.  It wasn't quite white enough so I painted the butterflies with some white gesso to make them pop a bit more.

This whole thing started because of this Ula "Be Yourself" clear stamp set, which is available from Polkadoodles stockists world-wide. She just screamed mixed media so I first colored her using my Prismacolor pencil crayons and then added some texture images from the Textures Galore stamp set.  I also added and colored in the Great Outdoors sun using distress inks.  OK!!  Fun so far!!  Oh and there is a similar image in the store with a few great sentiments as well as more fabulous Ula images.

I found this "Love" heart shaped paperclip and popped it on top of layered pieces of paper from the Bright & Beautiful and Sweet Tweet 6" x 6" craft paper packs.

I've added some flowers, sisal, white moss, doilies, chipboard, a tassel and a heart clothes pin in this arrangement.

Again from my stash I've added more flowers, this amazing burlap flower, the "LOVE" Prima shabby chic door sign and a huge metal butterfly.  I added some heavy white gesso over all of my embellishments just to give it more of that shabby chic feel.

And more stuff from my stash and YAY I was finally able to use my robin's egg nest!  LOL!!

On this side of the canvas I used the Unicorns & Rainbows and Winter Accents 6" x 6" stencils for the big stars and small patterned stars.  Again they weren't as white as I wanted so I painted them with more white gesso.

This piece was a ton of fun but not quite sure when you'll see another one.  LOL!  These things really make your creative mind kick into overdrive!!  I hope you liked this, my sister does and has already laid claim to it!  Well, she was my inspiration so I suppose she deserves it then!  😂😂😂

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Eulanda

Winnie - Partytime

Thanks for popping by as I have a super cute shaker card and video to share showing how I add my flowers to my cards.

I've started by picking my papers again and this time I'm using the Bright and Beautiful 6" x 6" collection from Polkadoodles.  It's been ages since I did something in blues and greens and I should do it more often because I just love this combo!!

Previously, I masked my image and then used the Great Outdoors 6" x 6" stencil, which is quickly becoming my favorite and oh my goodness I loved the end result!  This time I used distress inks for the clouds but ... maybe next time I'll use something different.  😉

The shape of the card is a file I've used on my Silhouette machine.  There are a number of tutorials for a step card online but I fear my measurement skills.  😂   I usually end up destroying a few lovely pieces of paper I could have hoarded in my stash.  ha ha ha ha!!

I created some hand made flowers from the Daisy Cluster Delicate dies by cutting them, spraying with water, crumpling them, letting air dry and then adhering the layers using my glue.

I chose a saying from the Sentimentals 6 x 6 paper pack and die cut it using the Posydoodles Basics Tags.  I cheated and placed the die (pic) closer to the other end so my sentiment wasn't as long as the die itself is.

Here you can find digi Partytime Winnie or the pre-colored Partytime Winnie, whichever is best for you!

I've used all my hand made flowers as well as some Wild Orchid Craft flowers to complete my bouquets.  Also added a gorgeous metal butterfly from my stash.

And another pretty bouquet.

As mentioned you can see my video here:

Faraway

When it's time for me to create my card the first thing I always do is always pick my image.  The second thing?  My papers and OH what beautiful papers they are from Polkadoodles, "Winnie, Once Upon a Time"  At this point, I know what colors I'm going to use so that's when I pick my coloring medium.  This time I've chosen to use my copics.  Well....I think they were feeling somewhat neglected as I could hear their little cries of abandonment.  Oops!!  LOL!!

After a few hours, she's finished!  I'm not the fastest colorist but I think it's because even after 10+ years of using them, I'm still not positive where my shadows go so for the most part, I just wing it. 😆  And picking my color combo's doesn't come naturally yet either so I have my trusty combo sheet right beside me.  I've decided to use this gorgeous Polkadoodles "Elegant Nest" die for her to sit atop.

Next, I create my layers and a few extra's but I wasn't quite sure yet how they would all fit in.  When I start a card I have no idea what it's going to look like when it's done so it's very much a pleasant surprise.  LOL!   They just kind of magically come together!  Are yours like that too?

Now here I've kind of planned on where I was going to place all of my layers.  It's a rather simple layout but I wanted the image and papers to come through.  I don't usually use sentiments on the front of my cards but I just happened to have a great 6 x 6 "Sentiment Paper Pack" from Polkadoodles that consists of 24 sheets of 96 sentiments!!!  WOW!!  So I die cut one of them using the "Posydoodles Tags" (also from PD) then cut a 2nd piece out of the design paper to layer underneath my sentiment.

Now here is when the really fun stuff comes in!!  EMBELLISHMENTS!!  I normally grab a handful of things I think I might use and end up using half of those and then another half I grab from my stash, or as I like to call it, "collection!"  hee hee   Seam binding or lace, always always flowers, sometimes chipboard, die cuts and gems!!  I always tell my husband if I were a fish I'd be never make it to old age.  The hook would come down all flashy like and OMG THERE'S SOME BLING!!! GULP!  Gone......yup.

It probably takes me a minimum of 2 hours to finish this part of the card after 2 hours of coloring so I'm kind of a slow crafter but I enjoy every minute of it!!  VOILA!

And here's the sweet digi Winnie Fairytale Faraway.

I knew I wanted to use a butterfly from the Polkadoodles "Butterfly Trio" and I ended up going for the medium-sized one.  I popped on a Tim Holtz nib and rose to finish it off.

And my last picture is just a share of my bouquet and a stunning gem I found in my stash, popped on top of a seam binding bow!

I hope you managed to stick through that as I think it's the longest post I've ever written but there have been a number of people asking me how I create my card.  My reply is normally "I don't know, it just happens"!  LOL!

Enjoy your weekend and keep it crafty!  💓

Hugs & Kisses

Hi there I'm back with another super cute Magnolia image from the Hugs & Kisses collection "Tulip Love Tilda".  I've paired her up with Maja Design's most recent paper collection "Denim and Girls".  Love it!!

I've added my usual ton of embellishments so if you have any questions please let me know.  I didn't get as many photo's as usual but probably because it was a "just for fun" card.

I hope you like it!
Thanks for stopping by!
