The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #16

CHALLENGE #16 - VINCENT

When I first read our challenge for this week I was thinking WTH?!!  How and what am I going to come up with but after viewing the poem and then reading it again it was easy!!  Here you can read the POEM and here you can VIEW it.  It's 6 mins and if you do watch it, watch for a tree or something that I swear to goodness was used in Beetlejuice.  Tell me if you see it too.  So, I chose the 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence:

He doesn’t mind living with his sister, dog and cats
Though he’d rather share a home with spiders and bats
There he could reflect on the horrors he’s invented
And wander dark hallways, alone and tormented

Admittedly, many of us hadn't seen the video for this, but once we did, we were hooked! So this week's challenge is to take a paragraph from the poem and use it for the basis of your card or project.

Can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Come and visit the other dolls at

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #13

Challenge #13 Big Fish

Create a fun scene from the movie "Big Fish".  This week's challenge is sponsored by:

and here's some info from TBD challenge blog about this week's sponsor:

"We are dedicated to bringing you high quality unmounted rubber stamps that offer you new and interesting avenues of expression. Our design style is edgy, wild, distinct, and fun. We embrace the unusual, and offer you a unique perspective when it comes to rubber art stamps."

As soon as I saw this image I immediately thought "where are those tarot cards?!!".  Ummm ya, they were a gift.  I'm not exactly a "tarot" girl myself but to each their own.  :)  Well, I searched HIGH and lo for them and they were nowhere.  Then I started thinking this "Internet" thing we are all so fond of MUST have some pics so VOILA!  I found a few and printed them off to be a part of this gypsy's act.

The movie "Big Fish" is about a man always telling big stories about his life to everyone and anyone who would listen.  So many exaggerated stories were told so over the years his son had heard them all many times and never believed them....until his father's funeral, when one by one the characters started showing up.  One of his stories was about him working in the carnival and that's where I went with my card.  What good carnival doesn't have a gypsy or two??

My first picture doesn't really show you how I 3d'ed the flourishes so hopefully you can get an idea from these pictures:

AND CHECK OUT THIS FREAKY PRIZE!!  VERY GENEROUS!!!
All these stamps & the gypsy digi as used above.

For more inspiration please visit The Burtonesque Dolls challenge blog, where the dolls have come up with some AMAZING and inspiring stuff!

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #5

This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we are showcasing digi stamps from Tiddly Inks.  I had played with a few of these before I became a DT for TBD and think they are just adorable!!  Christy has a new Goth line but many other VERY cute images.
This week's challenge is to create a card or project with Sleepy Hollow-ish scenery... think funky trees, pumpkins, and elements from these photos and put your hero/heroine in that scene.

I chose to build a side step card, although no matter how many times I took a picture, never could quite capture the steps as much as in real life.  I used Gossmere from Tiddly Inks for this week's card, kindly donated to all the DT's from Christy.  Thanks!
We can't wait to see your take on Sleepy Hollow. You have until 10:00 p.m. Pacific (USA) on Monday, June 7th to link your creations for a chance to win the Tiddly Inks prize!

My First Burtonesque Dolls Challenge as a DT Member

I am so happy to show you my first card as a member of the Burtonesque Dolls and join them in their 4th challenge "An Affair To Remember".  This week we are partying with the Busy Beauties gals, Carolyn and company, who are sponsoring our challenge with a chance to win 5 images.  YES 5 IMAGES!!!
This week's inspiration comes from Timothy Burton's "The Corpse Bride".  Create a new card, ATC, scrap page or project including this theme.

I am also including 2 other challenges with my card today:
Stamptacular Sunday who requested pearls and swirls
Cute Card Thursday who offered this sketch.

On a wedding day it's all about the bride so I focused on her and her bouquet, of which were very dead flowers, in "The Corpse Bride" and used an image from Busy Beauties Boutique called "Emily~The Bride".

So grab an image and join me in this week's challenge!!

So starting with the first and newest challenge:

The Burtonesque Dolls - if you haven't seen this blog yet, please go visit.  It's really outside the box and I love it!  This week's challenge was to take any stamp and turn the card into a girl who could qualify to be in a Timothy Burton movie.

Cute Card Thursday - asked for us to make the card for Someone Special.  Oh easy!!  My sister!!  She loved this odd stamp as much as I did and we bought 3 different ones together.

Friday Sketchers for this sketch:
So here's my reveal!!  LOL!!  I also used chalks to grunge up the nice white
lace and I  put gloss on her umbrella, hearts on her hat, her tie and her purse.
Hope you like it!
